This fun TOG will help you communicate better with your children by…
  • Teaching them how happy you can feel by saying “thank you” and,
  • Learning about what your children appreciate most

You will need:
1. Paper and pen
2. One small jar per person
3. One Avery label per person
4. One Cork Board

It is a wonderful way to "raise happy and caring kids!" Check it out!

Let’s get started!

1. First, each person participating should label their own jar with their name. Then, cut 7 separate 2’’ x 2’’ strips of paper per person.

2. You, the parent, will go first. On each of the 7 slips, write down one thing, person, or event that you would like to say “thank you” to.  Your slips should look something like this: “I am thankful for….” Feel free to get a little creative and decorate them!

3. Now, as you write each strip out, read what each says aloud to your child. Writing your own “thank you’s” allows you to teach your child by example.

4. Next, let your child make his or her own “thank you slips.” If your child can write and read, have him or her write and read their “thank you’s” aloud. If not, do it for them! Your child’s slip might be as simple as “Thank you for my mommy.” The main goal is to express what comes most truly from their hearts.

5. Place the slips in your own jar. Every day, at either breakfast, lunch, dinner, or bedtime, each person will pick one slip from their jar and read it out loud. This serves as a great reminder for parents and children of how wonderful it feels to be thankful each and every day.

6. Place your slips each day on a family corkboard where every can enjoy it. It will be your very own family’s “Thank You Board!”
